David & Lorraine Cheng are the benefactors of the William Paterson University Library, through a generous endowment. In June 2001 the Library officially changed its name to the David & Lorraine Cheng Library in honor of their support.
Mr. Cheng had servd on the Board of Trustees from 1990 to 1999, and was an held a Ph.D. in structural mechanics, owned his own engineering consulting firm and was dean emeritus of engineering at City University of New York (CUNY). His wife, Lorraine Cheng, earned a master of science in biochemistry and retired from Hoffmann-LaRoche in 1994 after 31 years of service.
